Feed Me: Calamari Tuesday - October 2013

The hedonistic but sveltely produced second album of the English based artist Feed Me follows three years of singles and EPs.  The  album is a mix of French house a la Justice style, London warehouse dubstep, Trap and a little hip-hop and soul which gives it added balance.  This is a solid album with a few heavy hitters such as Rat Trap which chimes its way through your consciousness with its fierce deep beats; and a slithering squelching synth breaking in on occasion.  We also loved Death By Robot which would not sound out of place on the Kitsune 12" albeit this would be more of a dirty bouillabaisse rather than a fragile souffle.

It may be a coincidence, however Feed Me's appearance in the crowd at Jay-Z's recent London gig could explain the Kanye West production feel to Short Skirt which added a much needed soulful outlet to the album.  Plenty of stabs in the production and rousing rhythms which plateau's you into the fantastic No Grip.

The radio friendly hit Love Is All I Got features Crystal Castles and had us signing along after a few bars with its uplifting vibe. It takes you out of the heady daze of being slapped about with thick and super production throughout the previous tracks.

Over the months this will be creeping up our most played list.  Feed Me is embarking on a tour for 2014 and we'd love to see him in Dubai. The album is out now on new label Sotto Voce.
