Slippery: Planned Slipp

The hip-hop scene in Australia started way back in the 1980s hot on the heels of New York City however, its own distinctive sound really didn’t pop until the late 1990s.  Supported primarily by independent record stores and local community radio stations the scene has always had an underground edge to it with the biggest commercial success to date being Hilltop Hoods with their album The Hard Road, and the classical music Restrung version of this album being particularly spicy and a favourite of ours.

Things look set to change, a fresh rapper Slippery, bouncing in from Sydney has respectively just taken No.1 and No.3 spots on the ‘triple j Unearthed’ hip-hop roster for his two diverse tracks; the vibrant Land Down Under Ft. Kid Mac and the hilarious Get a Haircut Ft Andre Legacy.

Produced in Hollywood, Los Angeles by Fleetwood Mackey, Slippery is set to release his new EP, Planned Slipp, 1 October 2013, and we think the grass is certainly a hell of a lot greener in Sydney with feel good tunes like this soaking up the sunshine pulling on a phat one.

Catch Slippery live and direct as he supports Mickey Avalon on his latest Australian tour kicking off in Melbourne on the 18 October 2013.
