Once the commercial centre of Dubai, Deira has ebbed and flowed throughout the history of the city state. Deira remains a hive of activity flanked by the buzzing fish market on the Corniche, however the lives of many people unfold behind the walls of the cavernous back streets and this section looks at architecture that appears mainly to be from 1970s onwards.
